Anyone here a fan of the TLM?
If Tech Mahindra HR is telling that after joining he will take care of onsite. It is US project. So in U4 Tech Lead position is it possible to send someone US onsite in L1/business Visa?? Shall I consider the onsite opportunity what HR is telling?? Or I should consider other companies to join. Please suggest I am really confused. Accenture Tech Mahindra Tata Consultancy Infosys Wipro

What’s the culture like at FTI Consulting?
Hey there!
I am a Masters Student majoring in Machine Learning. I am in my first semester and I am kind leaning to explore Data Science as well. Could any Professional Data Scientists help me out on getting started? What skills do I focus on? What kind of projects should I have on my portfolio?
I have tried looking this info out in the internet but its all overwhelming. Hoping to get some honest guidance here!

If you only plan on using rewards for travel, then I'd recommend Capital One Venture. Lower annual fee but still high rewards, in case you don't end up traveling for work as much. Personally, I prefer Chase Freedom. Zero annual fee. 1.5-5% cash back on everything, no limit and you can just collect your rewards in straight cash. I've made out like a bandit with that card, including travel expenses.
Credit cards are not affected by supply chain issues, so no 24 months waiting time. Why not just wait and see? Highly dependent on a million things how much you will travel
I have that card. I’ve had it since before I was a consultant and travel enough personally to make it worth it. I’ve found that you can usually choose if you want to travel or not. Most roles are up front about it
You likely cannot use a personal card for work travel, so you shouldn’t be basing your decision on that
Confirm Accenture let’s you use your own card for everything but flights.
McKinsey is much stricter requiring charge code and corporate AMEX for everything but hotels. Honestly don’t mind since I don’t want to spend my time doing expenses
Wait until you start and get a corp Amex then apply for the platinum with the $150 annual fee credit. Better card overall anyways, especially if in ATL and fly delta a lot
I just switched from reserved to the venture X capital one card, think it might be a better deal
You will travel as often or as seldom as the client requires your services on-site. Most clients, and therefore most of our employees, are still in remote/WFH mode. So there’s no definite rule on travel tempo at this point.
I would not plan a lot of travel as an analyst. Post COVID clients are questioning the value of having really junior people on-site after proving remote can work for years. Certainly there are times when it is necessary or desirable - but again I just wouldn’t count on it. I was out 3-4x month pre COVID, now every other month.
You should find out if Accenture allows you to use your personal card for travel or not
They do
I have that plus the no fee chase cards. I think it’s worth it - after all the reimbursements the fee comes wayyyy down.
I use my reserve for travel and dining, unlimited for every day spending, and freedom for the bonus category. You can then transfer those points to the reserve for the multiplier when you book travel. Basically enabling you to max points across the various chase cards
I traveled every week for the first 5 years
