Again, the fact that people can tag all employees from 3 massive firms just to ask what to shop is absurd to me
Fair enough. I’ll say that for Bain we’re pretty casual in the office. Men wear jeans and any sort of button down, women wear anything from sweaters and skirts to more business-y jackets. Obviously you’ll need to be more formal for client site visits (but never more than true business casual)
Is no one going to ask why @op is going in the opposite direction from FAANG to MBB. When everyone in consulting is dying to go the other way.

There is a big difference between Banana and H&M. I too am budget, but go more upscale than H&M and your clothes will last way longer.
Agree on all the casual points. COVID has really dropped the fashion bar.
Agree with all above - super casual on zoom and regular informal/business casual to office/client.
Though given more hybrid settings available, wanted to share some of my observations on some fine lines and not feel underdressed coming to office (I’m based in northeast :))
+ I think denim jeans is still relatively rare and rarer for women unless they are dark, very fine regular fit (=looks like a pair of trousers), or unless you are able to put up Steve Jobs digital savvy’s vibe 😉
+ Camisole-ish tops are fine only if covered with cardigans/blazers
+ It might still feel slight awkward wearing the white sneakers even if they are $500 common projects or McQueens 😝
I wear white sneakers in the office all the time (Europe) and also at client site if EM or leadership does that as well!
I wear a t shirt and jeans in our offices (and same when wfh), shirt and suit trousers for client site
European office - we’ve become much more casual in the office since covid
I wear a work blouse and either comfier work pants or nice jeans! I wear nice flats about half the time (I gave up on heels) or clean vejas the other half
Buy a few nice blouses and pants in dark colors + 1 or 2 Blazers and you should be fine for your start. I started wearing turtleneck longsleeves as it’s getting colder, can dress them up with a blazer as well.
Over zoom, a sweatshirt will most likely be enough though :)
No one really cares. I wouldn’t stress about it. Everyone is pretty casual over zoom. Can’t remember the last time I wore a button up (and pre Covid for a blazer for sure)
