Who wants to be a millionaire?
Hey! Any Google folks know if it’s possible to negotiate fully remote if a contract role is hybrid? Personally, I don’t want to relocate and go to the office on a contract role given the current economy. Plus, I’m assuming contractors are the first to go in layoffs. I just think it’s a fair trade off if I’d be allowed to work fully remote. I’m also trying to have flexibility to manage my Airbnb business in a different country. Same time zone as the home office if I’d travel weeks at a time.

Are you senior? I’ve found external in-house recruiters are typically only used at a senior level. Applying directly seems to be generally more successful for the under 10 YOE crowd
I’d definitely focus on applying directly. I just switched jobs and I applied through LinkedIn and had a few offers.
What’s your YOE and background? What sort of law school and law firm credentials?
At the end of the day, polish, polish, polish that resume and apply. It’s a numbers game. Just keep going until you find a new job.
ETA: really, really sorry you’re going dealing with that BS.
Having a tech regulatory and compliance background is great! Tons of tech companies with open positions m. DM me. Happy to help look over your resume.
Network. What state(s) are you looking at? What industry? If you are anywhere near me (PacNW) happy to make intros.
Midwest! But industry is tech. I’d love to do PacNW! Washington has been on my radar for the tech and in-house opportunities there.
Feel free to DM me, our clients are mainly tech in-house and I’m happy to offer general advice for job searching and making sure you present as well as possible (resume and LinkedIn tips).
We’re in Palo Alto so the majority of our clients are based in San Francisco but we have grown enough to have clients all over. For in-house you need to cast a wide net. It’s not like lateral firm recruiting where every recruiter has access to every law firm opening.
The comment above that most in-house teams are seeking senior level experience is generally accurate (depending on the size of the legal team there generally isn’t a bunch of training available or oversight).
To the author: I’m midwest and tech (Minneapolis). My company is fully remote, so where I’m based matters less, but I’ve found a lot of recruiting opportunities in the tech industry and a lot of LGBTQ+ friendly companies from my view.
If you want to DM me I’d love to connect and help out!
