I’m looking for some opinions from you all. I’m going back and forth on what I should do. Back in a post I made here to the “Salary Negotiations” I mentioned that my ex-employer dropped my wages due to my age. I’m wondering if I should raise a complete about this to them/HR?! They ended up paying me the changed rate before I signed the new contract — but when I requested to get my old one and new one sent by email the new one had my weekly hours changed also. I don’t think this was legal to do.

Not sure why you would go to HR… didn’t they approve the updated contract? I would consult an employment attorney.

Knowing the company they wouldn’t have gotten it approved from HR. It was the administrator that put it through as they are the one that did the payroll. I would like to go through the company/employer prior to getting a lawyer. But, I’m not going to do this just yet until I get another job elsewhere!! Furthermore, that’s why I asked here on the bowl about what I should do.

Age discrimination. If you can prove it,go to the Labor Board.

I have screenshots and emailed versions of my payslips from February - March where it was the correct wage agreed. And, then the changed wage that I got paid April - May. Although, they changed meeting minutes to stuff I did not say. I read them when they were first made and they did not say the same things and what they now say. I only know this as I asked for them to be sent via email to me including my new/old contracts and amongst other things also.

I don’t know what the Labor Board would be able to do with that since it’s a “He said, She said” situation.

For the last time. HR doesn't work for you. They are there to protect the company.

Get an attorney and lay out your case.

Firstly, I am only asking for support. No need to be rude about it in anyway. I’m 18. I’m trying to find other ways that I can get to a possible conclusion with.

HR isn’t just there to protect the company. HR is a thing for companies as they manage the employment life-cycle, ensure legal compliance, and align a company's workforce with its broader business goals.

Secondly, this was my first job, I’m trying to get my options open before I choose a path to go down.

Thirdly, the manner you have said this comment in is less than helpful — please reflect on what you are commenting before you actually hit post in future. You might not be so lucky a second time.

I have my annual review coming up and want to hear thoughts on what a reasonable raise expectation is. I report to the COO and currently make $94k + up to 10% annual bonus based on company hitting their revenue goal + I have 3000 stock options. I have 3 YOE in customer success but pivoted to a non technical program manager role at a series c tech startup last September. I have been getting consistently positive feedback at quarterly reviews. What raise should I aim for?

Started a new job a year ago, high performer. My manager suggested a promotion to Product Manager since that‘s the work I’m doing, but that would be a 50% raise. Higher ups decided instead to make a “new role” (not PM), that has no analog in the company and is hard to price via Glassdoor, etc. I feel like this is to limit my promotion salary to something like 10% from where it currently is. Is there anything I can do? FWIW: I have a PhD from top 5 program and am working in that field. Thanks!

Hello Technie's,
I am in a confused state of mind with my current situation & I can surely use some advice from you guys.
I'm working with a product company for almost 5+ yrs now & recently decided to separate from them for obvious compensation reasons.
I have multiple offers now with product/service based companies.
The top and the best offer I have is from a service based organization of almost 100% hike.
Now my company wants to retain me & offering me even higher. What should I do?

Additional Posts in Salary Negotiations

Im currently going through industry change.
Im a pastry cook with 4yrs experience and the average salary start for this position is now at $22/hr here in vegas, especially in the strip. But cooking/baking is not my passion. So im changing into veterinary medicine and im seeing that the starting rate for a vet tech is around $16-18. Why is that?? Why are people in the vet med industry being paid so low?? Something needs to change. Labor of love aint enough for the people in this job.

I expect to be asked at some point, but my research has given me a VERY broad range. So I’m here to do a bit more research. I’ve got 5 very relevant years of experience and will have an associate manager directly reporting to me. Are there any marketers out there who can share their salaries in similar regions and experience levels?
