All, I’ve been a lawyer for six years plus a judicial clerkship. While I love the law, I pretty much hate the current practice of it. I’m looking to do something with my law degree but not necessarily stay in practice. Any suggestions? Every time I look I get so overwhelmed that I stop looking.

I'm currently working as an electrical designer in the MEP industry. I really don't like it and I'm working towards a career change which I'm actively applying for and getting certified etc. However, it's been a slow process and I'm currently underpaid where I am so would it be wise to make a lateral move to another MEP firm simply because they offer me more money while I still look for a different job separate from this field? An employer requested my college transcripts and HS diploma because they couldn’t verify my education via background check.
This has never before in my life been an issue.
I have a GED, (scored in the 98% percentile 😳🤷🏻‍♀️) and my college grades were 😳😳 nothing I would ever be pleased to share (went from straight As to Cs to Fs, then withdrew). I was honest about my dates of attendance and my lack of degree on my resume.
