Change your fishbowl title to Teacher and respond to every post in the BigLaw bowl
Dig deep and put yourself in uncomfortable situations. Go to charity events, join a social club, put yourself out there. It’s hard as hell and will pay dividends if you get past the discomfort phase.
Think hobbies. Think about the things you loved to do before you got this busy. Travel, books, exercise, hiking/walks, food, wine, volunteering.... anything?
Retired after 40 years too. Red cross disaster deployments, pickleball, travel, food bank warehouse volunteer, nonprofit board, pro bono work.
This has to be fake. Who says their entire personality was Lawyer other than someone making fun of those people 😂
What the literal F lol poor dude is lost.
I got this same advice from my now-retired mentor when a partner in my office hit 90 and kept coming in because he had nothing to go to. My mentor was in the middle of deliberately preparing a life for herself outside work — volunteering, local politics, environmental work — so that she would not be in the same spot.
I feel your pain. I'll be where you are in 6 years. I've been thinking about this recently.

When your personality is the profession your about to leave behind, welcome your new profession with open arms if that may look like a nice guy you've just met. 🫶🏾🫶🏾
