EY recruiting is such a mess. Applied and did a pre-recorded video interview, heard nothing for like 3 weeks. Then I get a random call saying they liked me and would I be available to attend an interview the following day. I say yes but never receive an email or additional details. Call back the number and it goes to voicemail. The following week I get a rejection email. Just so frustrating EY

I'd probably leave that part off the cover letter. Also, you could share your CV and cover here if you'd like some feedback. Might help to have several more sets of eyes on them.
That's really furstrating...I mean personally, I would leave it out. Nobody needs to know and in general, they tell you not to put specific addresses in your CV etc anyway. I think you're just offering too much detail
🤦♀️🤦♀️ Terrible advice. They're going to find out eventually when they ask for proof of OP's eligibility to work in Canada, and most likely DQ'd at that stage. Don't waste time being sneaky, be forthcoming otherwise you'll just piss recruiters off. And Vancouver is a very small city, the people, talent and recruiting network here is small and we all talk
The holiday visa is not a long term work permit so you represent a liability to a recruiter. You could be amazing, but you're a flight risk. Very few companies are going to take that on lightly, especially with the talent market currently.
That's a really good point, I think a lot of people end up in contract positions so maybe that's worth looking into rather than full time, perm positions?
It really could be your resume. Have you considered having it professionally optimized? Sometimes that can really help! I would highly suggest it.
Im not 100% sure how true it is but I have heard multiple times that alot of places use a filter system so basically if u don't have Canadian experience you are falling through the cracks. It kinda makes sense but also sucks. Wait until are on the ground here then apply and get in with recruiters. It's pot luck but there are jobs to be got! I picked up my job within the first week. Good luck 🤞
Also I used an immigration company when I came to Canada 6 months ago. They fixed my resume to Canadian standard - it's alittle different to how ours is back in Ireland and UK. So do abit of research on that too
Maybe it's both 🤪. Just kidding , but really if you are applying for a "job" here I doubt any company is looking for temporary workers. You'd be better off looking for some contract work maybe
