I’m wanting to get my first updated credit card. My current card is free with 1x points and I’ve had it for ages, but I like that I have no foreign transaction fees and it’s Visa so I can use it at Costco and Abroad and don’t have issues. I’m considered the Amex gold or plat, but know that Amex isn’t as widely accepted abroad so would keep my visa too. Between the gold and plat, any preferences? It seems like the gold is a better daily card and the plat is better for use on travel

I recommend the Capital One Venture X. It has awesome benefits, no FX fee abroad as well. Get back $400 annually in statement credits. DM for referral if interested

Cont. there’s also a lot of benefits I will/won’t use. For example I would use Clear, but I already have global entry for 5 years and won’t use that benefit. I would like the lounge access, but that’s probably not enough to justify it (my airport only has delta lounges). My biggest spend area is food related

You can use Clear and TSA Pre/GE together. The clear allows you to skip skip 😅 the line

If your largest expense area is food, you should look into the Capital One Savor card. 4% cash back on food/entertainment, 3% grocery, 1% everything else.

CFP study programs:

I'm a little confused on Danko - does he offer a self-study option for the coursework requirement? On his website it looks like each module has a 4-day virtual class which I wouldn't be able to attend due to working full time. Does this program also include self-study material, and the classes are just supplementary/optional? I was also looking at Dalton for self-study and Danko for test prep. Thoughts?

I’m interviewing for a marketing manager role at a company based in SF. I’m genuinely excited about the role and the company but we’ve yet to discuss salary. I expect to be asked at some point, but my research has given me a VERY broad range. So I’m here to do a bit more research. I’ve got 5 very relevant years of experience and will have an associate manager directly reporting to me. Are there any marketers out there who can share their salaries in similar regions and experience levels?

My company just announced that they will stop matching for the 401K until 2021 (sigh). Do you think I should lower my investment percentage to get more liquid assets that I can use for buying an investment property at the end of the year and extra funds available for school as I return for masters? Or is there a better way to get returns?

Moving from Canada to the US. Anyone have recommendations on best credit cards to apply for to start building credit and that either leverage Canadian credit or don’t require credit? Have heard Amex and RBC (and a few other larger banks) seem most straightforward but open to ideas.

Pre-approved for a home but the rate lock expired and now we have to re apply. My husband lets me know his credit score dropped 111 points because of credit card utilization. Even if we get it below 30% ( which we can) not sure it will quickly reflect. I also added him as an authorized user on a high limit credit card I have.
