In 2026, Do you think it’s appropriate to take a few sips of tea or coffee during a virtual interview when you’re not speaking? I’ve always kept a drink at my desk and occasionally taken a sip, but I’m wondering if expectations have changed and whether that’s still considered acceptable.

Have cleared HCL interview. Initially they offered 23 lpa (via proposed offer letter, to be approved by L4), but i requested to reconsider it for 25 lpa. After 5 days, they sent final offer letter of 19 lpa (stating they can offer max 50% as per L4 approval).

I don't have any other offer as of now. What should I do?

How do you deal with an HR that ghosts you after 3 interviews that went really well? I landed an offer at Deloitte as a sr. consultant, and then negotiated for a managerial role. I was told all interviewers were really happy with me so she would be glad to arrange a reevaluation for the new role(I was interviewed by 2 Sr. Managers & an MD for Sr. Consultant role and will have to take another round with a partner for the managerial position). I tried following up thrice after, no response.

I have a in person(online, 4 hours - 4 people) technical interview coming up and I have been practicing my coding for the past 3 weeks. The only thought I've been having is "what if I can't solve the coding question?" I am still fairly new to the software engineer scene and the position is for a level 1 software engineer.
Does it essentially end my chances if at any point I can't solve the question? I mean I will definitely attempt to talk it through, ask question, but no progress in code. 🤷

Do you still write thank you emails after interviews? A lot of the roles I interview for these days are coordinated by recruiters so I don’t see the interviewers emails

Working Moms/Dads: Do in-house positions exist with flex time hours? I need to be able to leave work at 4pm to pick up my son from daycare, but i can get back online at home to resume any unfinished work at 8pm. Me(jr): asked to lead a call for a different deal as training. Mid-level doesn't take notes (also on call) and tells me it's the job if the junior to take notes.

I’ve been at my clerkship for 5 years (4 with a different judge) and one with my current judge, and I heard horrible things about him before starting, but I assumed they were exaggerated. Turns out they’re all true, and I’ve had to start therapy to deal with him and the incredibly toxic environment. What is a simple way to explain to my boyfriend that investing in equity with an expected return of 10% is better than paying off debt that is growing at a rate of 6%. He has student loans and is adamant that he wants to pay all of them off immediately before saving any retirement money. I understand that many individuals use this strategy but I think investing in index funds for the long haul is better from a wealth accumulation perspective, without even factoring in tax implications of 401k
