In early 2024, my company had a round of layoffs, and the business line I was responsible for got cut. I decided to leave on my own. With the economy the way it is, job security feels like it’s disappearing.
Earlier this year, I started building the VeryCareer brand (you can google it) in my spare time. The past six months have been full of long nights, and to be honest, it’s been tough.

Do you all see a compelling future in your tax career? I’ll go first, I don’t see a compelling future working for a large PA firm in the long run because you have to work more as you move up. However, I do see a compelling future by using my knowledge and skills to open my own firm/business and work less hours as long as I make enough money which is $75k, or if I do work long hours, it’s because I want to.

I want to become a better people manager. I haven’t ever gotten any formal training in this and now my career will demand it. Any training, conferences, books you good folks recommend?

What’s the best way to pivot into data analytics role from accounting/reporting background?

Hi, Please can some share approx London salary bandings in Tax Consulting for SM, D and what was considered AP grades at EY. Failed to find clear info on Glassdoor.

Is it possible to switch from consulting to ibanking with a STEM background while on H1B? Or does USCIS care that your education and background fits perfectly into the little description?
