In my personal life, I’m an extrovert — I love socializing, meeting new people, and being the life of the party.

But when I’m at work, I shift into more of an introvert mode. I’m direct and speak up when it’s necessary, but I tend to keep a low profile and focus on my tasks.

However, I think It depends on the work environment for me — if it’s collaborative and supportive, I can be more open, but if it's more rigid, I tend to retreat. Can anyone relate?

Why does my team lead act like a school teacher.

Need some suggestion. A very bad argument happened with your manager due to mismatch skill of work. what should we have to do? do we need to send a apolgy mail even though you are right?

Just got let go and my manager said part of it was because I was looking for other jobs. I didn't look for other jobs at work, so I'm not sure how they could have known that unless a coworker snitched on me. Is it worth it to try and find out who or should I just leave it? Can't deny that I'm seriously pissed off about it.

At my law firm, only senior associates and partners go to court and take depositions. Is this normal for a big/vault law firm?

I started working for a new law firm, much larger than the firm I was working for previously. The main attorney that I work under had noticed some mistakes I was making (I am a NY paralegal who took this position with the understanding that they’d be teaching me NJ and NYC real estate). Anyways, the attorney decided to tell the HR manager about the mistakes I had been making. Rather than HR discussing with me, the manager told my dramatic coworker to tell me..how should I handle this? Very hurt!

I just finished a big jury trial with a senior partner (SP). There were co-parties w/separate counsel. SP mentally checked out, to the point that co-counsel was asking what SP was doing/if SP was okay. I ended up handling most everything. SP did a few parts but went rogue and did things that were offensive/risky/bad for client. It became clear that SP is not performing like SP used to and may be a liability. Do I tell someone at my firm? Don’t want to offend SP or cause drama, but I’m concerned.

Do you ever feel you can’t tell your former colleagues how well you are doing? I worked at ML & now indep. Talking to friend at 8am, I’m at store picking up milk, etc. Friend asks, are you at store?

In our 121 last we had a good discussion on creating a personal development plan, with the idea being I’d write down clear goals & action points to get from my current level to the next, and I’d provide weekly evidence of it. I prepped the doc accordingly, but instead of wanting to discuss it, he said I have 4 weeks to “turn things around” - without giving any new info on what I’ve done wrong - esp given I wrote my goals based on this same feedback from last week??
