How to tell what level it is a PPMD?
Got a random email from a supposed Amazon recruiter for a SDE position (which is not at all a fit). The email is amazon.com domain and there are no red flags in the body but it doesn't feel like an Amazon recruiter due to the tacky signature, etc. Has anyone seen this kind of cold-calling from FAANG recruiter?
Dang. URI just beat Okla. 😭😭

I initiated dismissal procedure with HR twice for improper behavior of our employees in the cabin. Drinking, exposing confidential info, being rude to staff... Fishes, don't be fools on airplanes - people with sacking powers might be near by, especially in states that have At Will employment laws, like WA. My home base is SEA too...
Haha I literally just got off that flight — wasn’t me though and I had my earplugs in the whole time so didn’t hear any of it.
^^ if you’re traveling for work you’re technically on the clock. So yes, you’re repping your firm. And if you’re working, you’re repping your firm. Drinking may not be an issue but making a fool of yourself is, as is exposing confidential info
Wait, no I didn’t I took the Alaska flight — had seats on both. Long day :)
I drink and talk how I want. I’m not representing my firm in an aircraft. Just because you recognize me as staff doesn’t give you the right to lord over me. ..!..
P1, You misses it. I double glanced at his email signature. As he was sending lots of emails AFTER the 7 drinks. And if he worked for Accenture, I was going to have to think about what to do. An Infosec person drinking emailing? Need laptop breathalyzers
I once worked for an MD at Accenture who was a raging alcoholic, and his late night emails were epic. Contradictory instructions in the same email, no punctuation and little spelling, and he once even got the name of the client wrong...not the person, mind you, the name of the company!
PM1, take a chill pill. If you make it obvious in any way what firm you work for and then act like an ass, you 100% deserve to be fired. Your firms reputation > your “freedom” to be a douche. You want to act like a raging ass, become a P in your firm or start your own business.
PM1: I had a very similar egocentric consultant back at my previous job. After two reported combative statements like yours (I can go wherever I want in the evening during the business trip, including strip bars), I escorted him out from the firm personally. We are in services business. We serve. All the time. Your ethics, behavior and humility are worth as much as your intellect, communications skills and proactivity. I don't think consulting is your prime vocation you fully understand and enjoy?
🤷🏻♂️
Agree with Deloitte 1. You are repping your company on their dime on a flight. And acting like an annoying kid after seven drinks is not Ok. At one point told the flight attendant “I don’t wear a uniform, but I feel I represent Delta airlines my flights and I help fellow passengers!” Queue the eye rolls. So if he feels he reps the airlines just because he flies a lot, imagine what else he says. Anyone flying ORD to SEA weekly look for Brian the infosec guy who works on a MAC. And doesn’t use a screen protector either. 🙄
PM1: well in this context, unless you don’t understand how context works, all the ifs apply; removing them means you’re traveling on your own. What you do on your time is not my business, but if you’re on company time and dime, you’re repping them. As to your second comment, I find it rather hilarious because I’m a 22 year old analyst. Tell me more about how I need top stop acting like moral police to attract the younger generation.
@MD1 don’t do it again. Just because you escaped being sued doesn’t make what you did appropriate. Firm sends me to a place, I do the job, client is happy, we get paid. It’s a transaction - what vocation? What I transact outside of my working hours is none of your business. Don’t be that person, MD.
PM1, hope you get a row to yourself when you fly, not sure your ego will fit otherwise. PS - your title doesn’t back up your small talk
Share which company he was with. Infosec Consultant here, I would report him. We deal with information that in the wrong hands can have almost immediate financial impact on a company
@Deloitte1 so many ifs. Remove your putative activities and I represent no one. “If” you stop sticking your nose around ppl and acting like a moral police maybe Deloitte will find better talent with the younger generation. As of now Deloitte is like an elephant’s graveyard
C1, I couldn’t decipher the company logo on his signature line. Will try and find it. It didn’t look familiar to me
D1, almost correct but the whole “on your own time” thing doesn’t really apply if you are broadcasting where you work.
@M1: am not the one going round this bowl touting about my firing ability. Am just stating the fact as a humble employee. I don’t remember my hiring process takes account of my evening activities. Whether I go to a strip club or gym after work is of no concern to anyone. Am neither hired on that basis nor should I be fired because I went to a strip club or gym to workout. This is getting out of topic. Appreciate it all started with someone exposing client information in an aircraft from SEA to ORD. so let’s stick to the topic shall we?
