Intentionally pretending I did not see the “urgent” email that was sent on Friday, a holiday. I will be responding Monday when I am back online.

Sidenote: it is intentionally stated in my
away reply that if it is urgent to text my phone and known that I keep a firm boundary on not checking email on days off.

Good! I learned a valuable lesson years ago - givers have to have boundaries because takers have none.

Love to see healthy boundaries! Also I hate that if using an outlook format, they actually saw your out of office BEFORE sending. Ughhhh.

Definitely on my calendar and our team general cal near. Our offices are closed in observance of Juneteenth. The away was a formality and really was only there because I had out of office work commitments Wednesday and Thursday that impacted my response time.

Good for you for setting those boundaries. I have had a hard time doing that and after 10 years in my career I’m finally starting to set some more boundaries for my personal time.

You are so smart and ethical for doing what you did, in my opinion. By placing value on your time and reinforcing your boundaries and rights, even a a subtle way, you have avoided contributing to a negative management style and reinforcing a poor culture of innapropriate expectations of employees at your level and all levels beneath and lateral to your position.
Good for you! You struck a balance between open confrontation of a hopefully, just clueless and not malicious, management team and still establishing that invaluable respect for your time.
Also, kudos for knowing your manager/s so well and anticipating a potential personal infraction. You seem to understand your company climate, management, fellow employees, and job responsibilities pretty well. You didn't just say "whatever, I'll deal with it on Monday" and let others twist in the wind by warning them all about your unavailability in advance.

If buy the partners you work with regularly a holiday gift, how much do you spend? Usually I get baked goods or food items which you can’t tell the actual amount spent on. This year, though, I’d like to support local restaurants by encouraging people to order takeout—hence, giving gift cards.

How much is appropriate for a restaurant gift card from an associate to a partner?

Is it as hard to take PTO as people say? I have a couple of long weekend trips planned (covid willing) in May and June, which is right after I start, but have heard that it’s normal to have to cancel plans due to last minute deals coming in. Any tips??

When is it either allowed or seen as OK to start using FTO? I recently started here and while I’m not looking to slack off and take time off, I just want to know how it works. (Plus, I don’t want to not use something that I can or should use.) Elementary stuff, I know. But I’ve freelanced my whole career until now. Thanks

I need help. I'm dealing with multiple losses in the same week and having a hard time... I took some time off from work but I have no motivation to do anything. I don't want to go back to work and don't care about my work right now. I want to quit but I don't want to make a rash decision but need a long break. It's also not fair to my team that I can't give it my 100%. What can I do?

So, how many days left before you start the holiday seasons? What are your biggest priorities for the new year?

I’m in a little of a pickle but a good one. Offer A. Established “start up” doing well financially and projected to hit profitability. 130k base. Stocks offered, unlimited PTO, and 70% Medical covered. Offer B. Is at a business much larger…90k salary with 10% bonus and generous stock offering. Titles are different which is why the pay is much different. I know some may think it is a no brainer but offer A allows me to grow the department ground up whereas offer B id be apart of to just different
