Interviewed at a smaller plaintiff firm- Was upfront about being in a graduate school program and that being my priority but really care and want to do the work that their firm does. However, the partner said I’ll be honest, our work life balance is not great here but we prioritize mental health. And understood and said they’re fine with me being in school. Red flag or good that they were honest? Some statements seemed contradictory so just looking for some insight/advice

Credit to the interviewer for being honest but a clear red flag that spells trouble given your situation. I say avoid.

like

Comes as a potential red flag. If they have a poor work life balance, that directly translates into your ability to do your schooling.

like

Thank you both! I’m like mm.. maybe she’s exaggerating? But kind of happy she at least was honest. I know it sounded like a silly question but it’s hard to determine when trying so hard to find another job too.

DD has great people and WLB, but pay is low and you’re not given the tools and resources to succeed + truly make an impact. Google and Apple are ideal but need backups. Like is Salesforce still good? I feel like I am very naive and cannot read between the lines, so I can’t tell if someone is trying to fuck me over or not. This leads me to be extremely skeptical of others’ intentions, and makes me less confident that I can influence others, and in general really erodes my self-confidence. Does anyone else feel similarly? If so, how have you dealt with it?

Additional Posts in Paralegals

Hi everyone. Is it typical for the attorney to take credit for the work a paralegal does? An example: I gave some ideas about deposition questions and some observations I made (I was asked about giving suggestions) regarding a witness and the attorney mentioned that he’s the one that had these great questions/observations. Zero credit or thank you for the work I did.

Currently a paralegal at a small start up financial services company been there for just a little over a year. I wear “multiple hats” but more recently I’ve done a lot of PM work and some BA work. My position title is changing soon but I’m wondering how helpful that would be for wanting to go into PM work at a tech company. Anyone have any career pivot advice? (Also I’m only 1.5yrs old in my career so I’m definitely still new, and I have previous experience as a project assistant).

So I’ve been with a court for a while and honestly the pay sucks compared to what paralegals should be making… the benefits are great though and they match my retirement 100% now that I’m vested at 3 years.I have 4 kids and 1 is getting ready for college. I feel like the benefits are great but I’d rather make more now. I am a previous LEO for 4 years who switched to paralegal so I have my leo retirement. Paralegals here make $28 with no benefits what is a good compromise
