My hands are shaking!! I just got off a call with my toxic manager who is clearly not happy I am being poached for another division. I tried to hold firm as he attempted to 20 question me, who was it, who wants me, what division, how did they find out about me? And of course the gaslighting of “why didn’t you come to me I could have helped or made introductions”. Clearly everything is about him. How have you handled such situations? What could I have done better with my abusive manager?

I'm a cashier. We just got a new manager, and she's making things really hard for us. She starts work at 4:30am and leaves around 2:30pm, but she still expects us to stay until 6pm and work on the weekends! She gives us really long shifts and doesn't give us much time for breaks. And when we ask her about it, she gets mad.

Fellow introverts...can I only advance in my career if I take on a leadership role? The thought of this terrifies me. One of the reasons I want to transition from industry to consulting (tier 1) is that I get frustrated when I have to collaborate with mediocre people. My assumption is that Tier 1 consulting firms hire really sharp people and if I can get in, I’ll be collaborating with folks on top of their game (not expecting much from clients). I’m aware there are personal aspects I need to work on like my mindset, patience etc etc, but I just get so frustrated with blatant stupidity.
