Pl adjust. It’s good to have diversity on a team. Age is one of those factors. That would be pretty crappy environment to work in being so rigid like that. Keeping ppl out doesn’t sound like a winning strategy to me
Diversity, including age is an unbelievable advantage for a company and coworkers. Everybody gets a chance to learn from all that experience.
I thought our government wants to rid every company (both public and private) of diversity...
People think anything over 25 is old.

It didn't shock me either. We've all dealt with HR at some point. The dysfunction practically drips off them.
40 years ago, or even 60 years ago, who would have thought that the Rolling Stones and two of the Beatles would still be touring past age 80?
I’m 34, 40 is definitely not old to me but yeah when I was in my early years I thought so

Me too and then you get there and you don't feel that old lmao. But then interviewers start treating you different. Before i turned 40 they used to ask me how old I was and now they ask how many children I have.

I'm nearly 63 and just laid off -- I feel too young to retire, but don't want another high level role -- I'm looking for a close to entry role that will allow me to do the things that made me fall in love with my career, but without the corporate politic and supervisory headaches, just a worker bee. I am hoping that some of the roles I have applied for will understand that. Ideally, I'd like to work another 7 years or so, in a job I love. I have worked with a youth organization for decades and some of the 'kids' I started with are in their 40's now -- still hang out with some of them, so I don't see an issue, do younger people see an issue?

The VP of my old wealth management firm became a receptionist in retirement.
In education, most school salary scales factor in education level and years of experience. I was non-selected for many jobs that went to teachers in their career years 1-3 simply because they were cheap. My position was reduced to half time during COVID. I took a $20k pay cut to go to another school to keep benefits. Turned out to be a pretty good move though overall.
That’s awesome. I too would move for insurance and let the chips fall where they may. I’m so happy it worked out for you!
I would strongly suggest you pick up a book a learn to operate in a generational format. Meaning there is no more 1 style of management, Each generation requires different touches.
I thought people stopped counting as old years ago
The question is: Are they willing to also accept entry-level salary?
