When’s the last time you had a non-working lunch?
Most definitely pie in the sky

Possible if you have priority seating and are one of the first to exit the plane.
No, I wouldn't try that in any airport honestly. There's always something that could go wrong. But that's just me.
Are you usain bolt?

Only if you luck out and are at adjacent gates and do not have to retrieve plane-checked luggage.

A bit better in your favor if the flights are on a single itinerary with a single airline
You can run into issues with American if either of your flights comes/leaves from the satellite terminal (requires a separate bus to get to). Southwest is self contained in one, relatively small terminal.
You’re definitely pushing it. What terminal are you coming in at and where do you need to go? I will tell you

I would do it unless it’s the last flight of the day. Live dangerously.
Assuming you don’t check bags.
Just remember they close doors 10 mins early too.

Correct on the hotels part - I should’ve been clearer on that. Hotels are generally not covered unless the issue was in the airline’s control, like maintenance. Occasionally they might do it for their highest tier frequent fliers (your 100K miles per year won’t alone be enough).
Thanks for all the advice! It’s looking like the 2 hour layover option might be preferable despite the slight price increase
If it’s one ticket booked on the same PNR you will be protected by the airline. Meaning if you come in late or any slight disruption they are obliged to get you to your destination, if there is a flight later there’s a good possibility they’ll just put you on that. Since it’s not last flight and it’s cheaper, I’d book that one with the knowledge that i can get the later flight. Unless you have status and can stand by for free if you arrive early. But all up to you
Anything less than an hour stresses me out, at any airport
No idea on the terminal - Just pre planning right now. Haven’t booked any flights yet
Same airline?
What airline? If you’re flying AA using the eagles nest from a RJ-RJ connection it’s not impossible, but if I remember correctly MCT at LAX is minimum 60 minutes i believe so this connection is illegal and the airline won’t sell you the ticket as one. Which puts you on the hook for a missed connection.
Quite simple, other than the horrible layout.
Standard MCT D/D domestic to domestic 1hr10min, D/I domestic to international 1hr30min. Unless AA-AA D/D And then each line is a specific condition, either widebody(W), flight number ranges (6xxxx are regionals if I remember), CDS AS being codeshare on Alaska Air. Etc etc
get a longer connection and then if you make it on time see if they could get you on an earlier flight at the gate
No. Why put yourself through anxiety to make your connecting?

The answer also varies by what airline you’re flying, which determines which terminals could be involved. Personally I would never book a 36 minute connection at LAX though.
I would do it as long as both flights are on the same itinerary and through the same airline. And if I didn’t check bags
This is the consulting bowl, we don’t check bags here!
Yes let us know how it goes 🤣
Every flight is full right now. Don’t risk it
Are you for real? Unless you're a VVIP being ferried in a Mayback across the tarmac?
