Is an average tenure of 2 years bad? I have tried 3 different service lines at public accounting firms trying to find where I fit in and finally found my niche in tax that I click with. But I’m currently at a small firm with no parental leave and no health coverage for dependents so I don’t plan to stay once I’m ready to have kids. Would 2 years be too short of a tenure here if that’s my average for my last 2 jobs as well?

No. But the only person who’s opinion who matters is the person hiring you at the new firm. Only one way to find out

Agree

No but you also want to move up in title. Hopping every 2 years at the senior level and restarting at the bottom (I.e no network, experience with firm software, processes) etc is going to hold you back

like

Yeah I agree, now that I’ve found work that aligns with my interests I definitely plan to keep moving up

like

No and nobody would fault you for leaving a firm with no health coverage for dependents and parental leave - that is standard at every firm I have been with

Well now I’m curious… what’s your niche in tax?

Nah

So I had been working as medical interpreter up to the early part of this year. Today, during an interview, the Director with whom I was interviewing genuinely urged me to consider pursuing a career as a PA or even attempt to go to medical school. I had considered it in passing before but today was about the third or fourth time that someone had earnestly nudged me in that direction. Has anyone here made such a career pivot before? I love working in healthcare, there’s nothing like it.

Thank you for starting this bowl! I just turned 50. I had my one and only child at 41 and went straight into menopause. My symptoms were perhaps confused with postbpatrum and nursing hormone symptoms but bow my hair is dry and frizzy yet somehow also oily and my skin lacks luster and I gain weight so easily. Working from home for eight months has definitely hanged my body shape and not for the better!

Growing up was rough. On my 8th birthday my dad had an accident that led to this death a few days later. He was a good man who took care of us all (I had 3 siblings now 2; lost 1 few years ago). I'm in a good place in life right now I only find myself in the last 5years shedding a tear once a while when I'm alone. It startles me because I was a tough kid who didn't cry and just soaked it all in and rolled with it. I'm almost 40 and can't explain what's happening with these tears.
