No blanket answer. Depends on the path you’re on without it & what you’d want to do with it.
In my case (partnership “fast track” at a place I liked in an industry where I wanted to be), not doing an MBA was a pretty easy call. And I have never regretted the decision not to pursue it. But if you can get into a good program and are looking to change your path, it’s a great choice.
The advice I always give people considering an MBA is to do the math on what it will cost, inclusive of tuition / fees / increased expenses and foregone salary / raise / advancement. It adds up to a big number - easily big enough that you should be damn sure of why you want one before doing it. The added benefit of doing that thinking is that it will make your admissions essays better.
Would prefer not to disclose firm. Mid-size company (~$1B revenue)
