Is anyone else planning their entire career around grant odds instead of science curiosity? I am shaping projects toward what reviewers might like rather than what feels most important scientifically. My last proposal scored well but still missed the funding line. How are you choosing research directions without chasing trends?

That was what caused me to change directions in my career
I figured might as well be in industry getting paid better to not choose my topic rather than changing my research to seek grants

One thing they don't prepare you for when you're getting into advertising is the extent to which being a cheerleader propels you. I'm not a misanthrope, but I'm definitely not naturally wired for cheerleading and it for sure has had an adverse impact on my career.

After working from home for the last 9 months, I do not want to ever go back into the office. I'd like to stay permanently remote. Advice for bringing this topic up with my manager? Or should I hold off on asking until we actually need to return (probably not until May or June at this rate). I feel like I am just as productive wfh and would like the ability to move away from my current city.
