Just be there long enough to qualify for paid leave, who cares about the rest
agreed. Make sure you qualify for mat leave. And get short term liability insurance to get additional time off. My mentor at my previous job got a job and found out she was pregnant right before starting the job. She told them and they made sure to accommodate her. Anyway, plan your job around your family not the other way around. One last thing, BDO sucks.
Agreed, you have to do what’s in the best interest for you and your family.
Take the full amount. You never get that time back with your family.
Definitely not an issue. Do what's best for you. Within a year or two should not be an issue for any normal company.
If it's within a month or two maybe not a great look.
Year or two? No. Month or two, maybe but if that soon use leave at BDO
Just FYI - Most firms require a year of tenure to take the leave. I see it’s more variable for industry jobs.
I was at BDO for both my kids and Bdos health insurance is reallyyyy good. Paternity leave was 12 weeks as well.
My advice would be to get knocked up in Q1 25, have the baby Q1 26 (missing busy season if you’re in a core service), and quit
Also nobody 1-2 yrs a long time and having babies/being on leave is a normal thing so I wouldn’t factor that into your job search if you’re really looking to move.
For my own sanity I wouldn’t want to start a new job and have a baby shortly after
My wife got a manager role 3 months before giving birth…it was very disclosed and was not an issue in the slightest.
Start the job if it feels right. If you deliver they will make it work
Just be honest and up front same as this post during your interview and see if it makes a difference, let us know.
No plenty of people who start jobs end up going on maternity leave shortly after. As long as you have the leave it doesn't matter how long you have been there. I say go for it.
