I am being asked to join immediately and there is no relocation support. The consultancy is promising (only verbally) that I'll be converted to FTE after 2-3 months.

The hiring is for their Horizontal Capabilties/ Customer success team and the tech stack is Node.js + AWS. Will it be a good team to join?

I attended a client interview last week and was selected for the same. Now they are asking to join within a day or two. I'm having my mom's surgery this week. How to safely refuse to join this client project for at least 10 days. I can't take leave for 10 days.

But most of peers are now managers, senior managers, directors, controllers, etc. I really don’t want to compare, but how do I deal with this so it doesn’t bother me? Has anyone else been in this situation? I feel partly ashamed because all of the work I put in didn’t get me very far in my career.
