Job-Hunting reach-out to VC from previous fundraising effort for own startup
I have e-mail archive from 1y ago of my reach-out to 65 VCs in London: we had video calls, they might remember me still, who knows.
I want to send a reply/forward message to the same e-mail thread from abc@gmail.com, saying that I am looking for roles within their VC firm. Is that a good idea?

Depends on the role. We do this for our PDM model (who are basically contractors). They are hired to work on that one client and if that contract ends they need to find something else quickly or they are gone, unlike Core model employees who are your more traditional consultant with bench time budgeted in.
Ok I need to ask for more detail when an offer is extended. If that’s the case, I will decline the offer. I will ask first though. Thanks many thanks

I get it, but why not extend an offer to someone you like. If this specific client doesn’t want a specific resume, EY can always find the new hire another opportunity. You shouldn’t lose talented folks just because a specific client may not want that resume
I’m hiring for a position right now where this is the case (the client requires that they review the resume and even interview the person first before we can staff them).
That said, I just confirmed with the partner that we want to remove the contingency for this person we want to hire, because she’s clearly a rock star and even if this client is dumb enough not to want her, we want her on the team.
We can typically avoid that contingency as long as the person’s skills are enough in demand.
I agree with you! I don’t know what they’re doing but it’s frustrating and beginning to lose interest.
