Is it normal for teams to ghost a person after they put in their notice? My team basically disowned me and I haven’t heard from anyone in nearly two weeks. At least tomorrow is my last day. I’ve left two jobs before and never had this happen before.

Honestly, I've seen that more than once. No wonder you are leaving. Much success to you at your next job OP!

were you a good manager?

I think that means they never really liked you in the first place. But also, that shouldn’t matter because these are your co-workers not your true friends.

It’s very unique to KPMG. There is this toxic culture around people leaving. Rather than celebrating a person on the next step of their journey, they go into this disassociation and sometimes a smear campaign against the person leaving. It’s gross and it says a lot about the culture and leadership at the firm at all levels. It’s not normal.

It’s not a surprise that people come and go. They track attrition and expect people will leave and that’s how they plan their hiring and retention approaches. You’re on your way to something better and don’t need to waste your time on people who cannot appreciate your contributions and celebrate your milestone.

like

I don’t see how that is even possible 😂 don’t you have information they need??

like

You did what you needed to do and so are they. As we learned this week, we are all out for ourselves.

like

It's not normal per se, but I can understand why they're doing that. On to the next homie

like

Not a surprising reaction, but certainly an immature reaction

smart

It depends. How well did you get along with your team? Did you interact socially or was communication strictly project related? How was your performance?

Here if you’re going to a competitor they will usually usher you out right away after putting in your notice 🙃I think that’s fairly common at big4

Depends heavily on the partners / leadership of your group, how busy you are, where you’re going, how sensitive the information you’re working with is, etc. I gave notice 2 times to b4 where I left to other b4 and was allowed to work my 2 week notice period both times.

Congrats

Oh yes

You'll never see them again, so why care? I hope you enjoyed your 2 weeks off. That would be my preference.

If things aren’t busy, what is there to really talk about? Most of them probably aren’t at their computer all day if there’s nothing to do

Like you mean nobody reached out to you socially? Or like about work stuff

I’m pretty torn on whether I want to take an offer for an internal role or not…
The job itself sounds pretty interesting. Lots of opportunity for growth (eventually will build out a team).

My only concern is the hiring manager. I talked to someone in my network who has worked with him in the past and she told me that she would 100% work with him again bc she learned a lot, but that he has a very dominant personality and that some ppl can butt heads with him.

Hi all, I am trying to DCA bi-weekly into Vanguard ETFs, (VO, VTI etc). It seems like Fidelity does not support auto buying of non-Fidelity ETFs. So I was wondering which of these options you think is best?

1. Open a Vanguard Invest account
2. Look for Fidelity ETFs that are similar to Vanguard ETFs
3. Use smaller brokerages like SoFi l, Robinhood etc.

I really do not want to manage nor be active. My goal is to log-in like once every 6 months.

Thank you all.

Advice needed: looking to leave public accounting and tax for good. I have two offers between a financial analyst and an accountant role. Based on your experience, which of the two has the best/better exit opportunities (should I decide to pursue the finance realm or something else) and better work life balance? The bigger pay as an analyst is tempting, but the company benefits are meh.
