If you’re already having doubts I would not move forward. If they really want you they should put some skin in the game. Especially in this job market.
I agree. That seems like a very expensive interview. I think I would cancel.
I’ve always had them pay for me to travel to interviews. They’re either not that interested, or cheap. Either way, I’d move on without them.
There are plenty of other firms who won't nickel and dime you. If they're already cheap during this part of the process, how do you think they'll be during your tenure? Might be good to move on.
I don’t necessarily think not talking to HR is an issue, I was interviewing with Amazon and didn’t speak to anyone in HR until the last step, before that it was just hiring manager and team, but through their Amazon emails, not LinkedIn. I think combination of everything seems a tiny bit sketch, but not too bad. At this stage it’s just taking up your time, if you’re happy to keep wasting some time because you want the role I’d probably keep going the way you are, but wouldn’t put in notice obviously until you had something in writing and spoke to someone in HR. I wouldn’t pay for my flight unless I could tack on a personal trip or something and even then only if I really really wanted the job. Sets a bad precedent. If they’re wanting to meet you face to face they should be the one paying for you to fly over
Domestic yes, international idk
International (Europe)
What’s more, the process is dragging on for a long time (I’ve alreay had 4 interviews and am supposed to have another day of back to back meetings). It’s full time but entry level… I never spoke to HR or headhunters unlike with other firms I’m interviewing with, only directly to the team or the hiring manager and the latter communicates via Linkedin instead of e-mails or other official channels. Are these red flags? It’s a top three bank but I feel this is not a great look
Continue the process but explain if they want you to travel for the interview it will be on their dime since their competitors in the US are paying for travel, too. I think it’s too competitive of a market to front money to travel somewhere for their interview.
