Kind of, but also Slack is less intrusive. It means “respond to this when you want to” a lot better than a shoulder tap. I will Slack someone nearby sometimes if I notice they have headphones on or otherwise look absorbed. Or if I don’t want to talk about it yet. And I wish more people would do the same for me.
Totally normal. I’d rather you slack me than interrupt whatever train of thought I’ve got going. I can choose to respond to slack whenever is good for me, rather than having to answer you immediately (whenever is good for you). Boundaries
I prefer email over shoulder tap or verbal talk just so there is paper trail. Also sometimes I get really absorbed in something I’m working on and don’t want to stop the flow
Slack is preferable, so you can add funny GIFs
Same @SC1
Also paper trail yes!!!
Echoing SC1--I also prefer to use it if I'm logging feedback so the person has a typed up point of reference 🙃
I’m shocked Ogilvy uses Slack. Just 5yrs ago they were managing projects via email and introducing Basecamp was a struggle. I’m impressed!
My partner says no a lot during the brainstorming process so I prefer communicating over type as well
I think that’s very strange.
Maybe your breath stinks? Check yo self!
Stand up and go talk to them. It’s not a cultural thing unless you allow it to be. No reason for things to get lost in translation when they’re right next to you. You’re new to the team so show them that you know how to communicate effectively.
Om3 - the easiest way for something to get lost in translation is to just say it rather than record it on a semi permanent medium that can be referenced later in the absence of the original interlocutor
