Not uncommon at senior levels
I've done it.
I liked it a lot.
it gave us both a chance to see if we like each other, have similar feelings about advertising and branding, and allowed me to ask what could be considered touchy questions after getting the job before getting the job.
Same! I had lunch with the team and the client before getting hired and it was really nice.
I've asked for it in tbe past. if I'm working an account, the client is my boss. if they hate me, everyone is in trouble.

I think it’s important for clients to get a feel for their agency team, particularly at a senior level. I’ve been on both sides of this & think it helps provide you and the client peace of mind you’ve got the right person for the job. They are much more likely to invest time in the hire if they’ve been involved in their recruitment - after all they’re buying a service from you which is based on talent!
Totally normal and usually done with all high level account hires at my agency. You’re running their business; they should get a say in who that person is.
The more senior the role the more likely it is that you’ll get interviewed by a client in addition to the agency team.
I’ve done it before, for a freelance assignment.
I wish my last agency had done it, wouldn’t have touched that dumpster fire. 🗑 🔥
You’re an MD- if I knew someone was going to be directing one of the agencies responsible for shaping my brand, I’d want a say in the hiring decision, too.
I’ve been interviewed by clients during the hiring process. I think it’s fine if you’re a senior hire.
