What’s is the budget for the position, or just ask directly for total comp. If they don’t give it, it’s probably low.
I always ask on first call. They want to know about me and I want to know about them.
I saved a lot of time from knowing that and I politely decline to move forward if the range doesn’t match my expectations.
This is the first question I ask. Typically, the messages on LinkedIn are something like "We've got a position, we think you'd be a great fit. If you're interested, send your cv, cover letter and sacrifice a goat" (😂).
Like if you want me to do those things, I'm going to need a reason...
The goat sacrifice was a joke.
I literally respond back with, please provide the base salary range and target bonus. I don’t want to waste anyone’s time and ensure expectations are aligned.
If they don’t tell me, I don’t bother pursuing. It’s likely not going to be what you want.

Yes. Anyone that reaches out to me with job details and doesn't include $ information, I just reply telling them to send some compensation details as well.
If they dodge my request or refuse to address it, I tell them not to contact me again in the future as I'm only interested in working with recruiters who understand that candidates want to know that information along with everything else.
I don't have energy for time wasters.
