Every manager started as something else.
I don't think it's possible or desirable unless it's in your own company.
I believe that in order to become a manager you must have many skills that can only be learned with experience, such as team management, problem-solving and the ability to predict events and act proactively.
Unlikely but perhaps not entirely impossible. Still, managers have to develop strong leadership skills as well as the specific skills for your field so you'll need some type of experience to land that role
I don't think that's the kind of role that non-experienced applicants can usually get
No offense intended but I hope not. It would be very difficult to know how to manage others if you aren't fluent in what they have to do on a routine basis. You would find yourself in over your head in no time flat
I swear I've worked for people who had no idea how the industry worked. I don't think it's typical though. You should have at least some experience otherwise it will be impossible for you to know what you should expect others to do.
You would probably do well as a manager if you are good at communicating with people one-on-one which really isn't my forte. No matter how well people understand the ins and outs of the news and entertainment business, if they can't properly direct and motivate a team of skilled workers, they shouldn't be in management no matter how long they have worked in the news.
It will be an uphill battle to prove your skills to other people unless you have a portfolio that you can show. Otherwise it's going to be hard for the people that you manage to see you as an actual authority figure rather than a corporate schill
It will be difficult. Unless you have some really good educational background to back it up it’s unlikely that you’ll get a manager position straight out the gate. However, they might promote you within the first 6 months if you can prove that you can do the job way better than they had anticipated.
