I can confirm I was laid off today. C’est la vie. I still love the firm. Life moves on.
A7 my firm is hiring. Hit me up
Remember how in all the stealth threads over the last few months how aggressively all the Cooley folks fought back about no stealth layoffs happening and everything was going perfectly fine…
Always be reading between the lines with firm communications.

Litigation paralegal here laid off today. Week before the holiday party. Such fucked up timing.
We are hiring - looking for a senior trial paralegal. Feel free to message me if interested.

I’m ex Cooley, lateraled during COVID. My current Amlaw 25 is still hiring. Happy to help with referrals.
Not Cooley, Cooley.

A22 I’m great now. I thought I’d leave biglaw after Cooley but was surprised to learn it was just the shitty Cooley experience of biglaw that I didn’t like.
Huge cop-out to say the downturn was unexpected. I think it was pretty obvious to most the gravy train in corporate wasn’t going to last forever. I also love the self-serving statement re professional development. They are basically saying they are taking away your job for *your own* benefit. 🙄
Hmm why unexpected? As soon as the central bank started raising interest rates and quantitive tightening on the balance sheet, that was the signal
“Our collective future”*

Can’t confirm numbers but can confirm layoffs.

Definitely know people laid off today
Damn
Damn…
Companies are running scared, causing a recession lol.
As a summer no offered by Cooley, hopefully now law firms will stop rejecting me right after asking the "did you get a return offer" question. Sigh
Summer Associate 1 - good luck with the job hunting!
My firm’s corporate group practice leader just sent out a blast email about our hiring needs. In short, if any recently laid off Cooley corporate mid levels/seniors are looking to work at an AMLAW 120 firm based in the mountain west, reach out and I’ll put you in touch.

How many attorneys did they let go earlier in the year?
As they called me yesterday to fill a managing litigation paralegal role. Umm…. No thanks.
Wow, any word on how many people and what levels are being affected?
I think it's a combo of attorneys and staff, don't know numbers for sure but around 100 total is what I've been hearing
