Bain & Company Is it truly easier to get in a smaller MBB office?
Have heard a lot for different opinions on these. The logic is that it’s easier because there is a lot of supply in cities like NY, Chicago and SF, but the counter argument is that the offices with less supply are also way smaller and have a lot less demand.

As much as I think you deserve to get promoted, I’d also encourage you to not get too hung up on the “associate” part of the title. With only 2 yrs of experience you’ve got so much to look forward to. Focus on what this job will do for your growth and learning, rather than the title. You have plenty of time ahead for that.
If it’s a big agency, there’s probably standard title bands that exist. If it’s a smaller agency, more likely.
No harm in asking! I’ve seen it done, especially when we were pretty desperate to fill a role. I would ask with a rationale as to what qualifies you for next position (will be especially helpful if you can find this company’s job description for next tier), but be prepared to concede if it’s a job you really want!
They may have different definitions than what you’ve experienced in the past. My friend is a marketing associate now. Her previous title pre-promotion was marketing coordinator (which is what you’re showing up in fishbowl as). So, may in fact be 2 separate titles?
Tbh I think the title is worth fighting for. A lower title is going to lower/slow your pay growth from this job on. If you went in as mid, you could leave in 2 years to be a senior (even if you’re not promoted), but if you go in as associate you HAVE to get promoted to even hope to get a senior job in that time frame. The pay scales accordingly.
I’m in the same situation, it’s a mid level but I’m looking for senior, salary is pretty close. If we get to offer I’m just going to ask for the title I want. The only time title gets held up is when it has to go through holding company approval, and that can take months.
I think it depends a lot on the agency. I came from an SVP role into a director role, same vertical, but different holding companies. I make more as a director and have more responsibilities than I had as an SVP. It's agitates me frequently that My title took such a big step down because that will for sure impact my next career move.
That said, there is significant title inflation in this industry
