Hi guys :) Glad to join fishbowl and this community. Guys I have an offer of 14.41 ctc from a big 4 (11 is fixed).
Technology-Microsoft Dynamics 365(I am a functional consultant in SCM and HR; Relevant exp: 3 yrs & Total exp: 4 yrs).
My interviews in IBM are done and I am waiting for the salary discussion with HR.
What is the likely offer that I am going to get? Any idea? (My expectation is 16.5 lpa ctc). I will adjust my expectations as per replies here.
Any response is highly appreciated :)

Post-MBA investing roles are difficult to get through MBA unless you had previous investing experience. Have heard this from folks across the board - even at places like HBS. Better to try to go for MBB or an investing role as pre-MBA (realizing that’s difficult but it’s relatively easier than the post-MBA option).
Get referred by someone there. Just because there aren’t official channels doesn’t mean they don’t take experienced hires. A colleague of mine went from ACN to MBB via a referral.
A top MBA, particularly HBS or GSB, can definitely help you land a VC summer internship. Converting to full time offer is harder, but definitely possible given the brand/network and a summers worth of experience. MBB can also help, but more important is the firms reputation in a given area (ie healthcare). I have an advanced degree and just landed a PE associate role after ~1.5 years at a mid level strategy firm
Yes
Agree with M1. Have my MBA and was able to go back full time because of full scholarship. Was making a big career switch so motivation was a little different and the ROI was significant for me. However, I notice a significant difference between those who have MBAs (and actually applied themselves/took advantage of the opportunity to learn) and their holistic understanding of the business versus those who don’t.
Get your MBA. I don't care what others say, you are most definitely better at your job after getting your MBA. I'm in an EMBA program right now and it's helped me tremendously. It's given me new perspectives and I've learned a lot. I'm not sure about the MBB brand stamp. I'd personally want to explore different fields of work, rather than go back to consulting (that's my plan). Not to mention that you'll need to come in at a lower level if you go to MBB.
I agree. I wish I went back FT, but I couldn't afford to give up cash flow. Go back FT if you can. You'll meet some amazing people and the professors are tremendous. my Econ professor was nominated for the Nobel price in Economics or something like that. We used to pull up the Journal and apply economic theories to what was happening around the world. It was tremendous. The way I think about it, is that the MBA will pay for itself over the course of the next 20 years. I am certain you'll have more job opportunities in the future and will eventually make more money since you have an MBA.
SM. Is an odd time to go back. Surely you have better opportunities on the table?
For us, that’s like leaving at Sr. Director /VP to F500’s
Likely better off transitioning into whatever department at your firm does work for PE’s and M&A, then interview
2 years is better spent doing work on deals than getting an mba for interviews. Also, mad opportunity cost.
How would one transfer to MBB pre-MBA? I’m pretty sure there aren’t official channels for other consultants with <3 years experience.
Getting a referral sounds tricky if you don’t know anybody at that firm. Any advice? Reach out via LinkedIn/email and say “I’d like to move to your firm”?
Manager1 - totally agree! I like your perspective and I share similar thoughts about going to MBB at a lower level; however, feel like FT MBA will give me more long term career opportunities than an EMBA.
Much appreciated, Manager1! Agree 💯. Great perspective Best of luck with everything.
