I’ve put myself up for L4 promo this cycle. Assuming I get it, what would be the best next steps to optimize for long-term growth/TC?
My understanding is that L5->L6 is extremely painful at Google. It may be easier to leave for a handful of years and gain managerial experience before returning.
L4->L5 is less challenging; however, I’m under the impression I can do this quicker at another company (if I leave after being freshly promo’d) AND get higher TC.

What exits are you looking for? IT audit leads to IT audit. Maybe cyber security

If you get your cpa you can transition into most accounting roles or even fp&a. It would be more lateral than straight shot tho
The wlb promised in IT audit is very hit or miss. That isn’t promised. If you’re put on a client that has different year end reports, you could have prolonged busy season, way longer than core assurance.
It’s depends on your goals, if you want to do IT or internal audit most of your career, sure. That’s where the vast majority of people who leave IT audit end up. Then you have other exit to advisory or some other role. At the end of the day depends on your end goal
It’s boring as hell. Remote work IA is ALL screenshots now, but IT audit still has more screenshot documentation.
