Is the Amex platinum $200 hotel credit useless? I feel like I can’t find a single place on that list which I would prefer to stay in when I’m traveling

Its valid on hotels that cost above 1000 per night, I would never pay that much so for me useless

like

Uh??? No….

I used it last year to stay at the Ritz and then used the $100 property credit on a massage

Most of these comments are incorrect. FHR you can do one night, (hotel collection requires 2 night minimum and usually isn’t “worth” it), which I’ve done and actually broken even on a 500$ night hotel. There have been countless examples late last December when I was trying to burn it for a 5 star hotel in my home town of a 200-250$ hotel, which would make out of pocket costs 50$, not including the 100$ resort credit and breakfast. So no, it’s not useless, it’s not an amazing deal, unless you truly search for one, or have a hotel you want to stay and it qualifies to lower the cost for a night. Or book two nights at the end of the fiscal year back to back.

helpful

This 🤙🏼

It’s not useless but I like booking directly from hotel tbh… unless FHR; that’s the only way i find to use the credit these days

I’d never pay that much out of pocket for hotels which are FHR so I personally find the credit pointless

I got 400 in credits also trying to figure out where and how to use it. My guess is Vegas when I go there later in the year lol

What is a simple way to explain to my boyfriend that investing in equity with an expected return of 10% is better than paying off debt that is growing at a rate of 6%. He has student loans and is adamant that he wants to pay all of them off immediately before saving any retirement money. I understand that many individuals use this strategy but I think investing in index funds for the long haul is better from a wealth accumulation perspective, without even factoring in tax implications of 401k
