I have a platinum. The $550 annual fee is hefty but I got $250 in uber cash, $100 to BestBuy, $100 to Saks that basically pays for it there. Let alone the welcome bonus is 100k points (~$1000) and many other countless coupons / rewards. I personally get value out of it (that i’d be spending regardless)
And dont forget club access
CSR/CSP is way better IMO: 1)their benefits are much easier to use so you can get the most out of your annual fees 2)service quality are basically the same between chase and Amex 3)chase and Amex have different point transfer partners but you can use chase points to book travel with 25%/50% more value on their portal unless you can’t live without sky clubs or the centurion lounge I’d go with CSR.
CSR and Amex plat service quality is no where close…
I booked couple night in hawaii using CSR points and when i arrived in Hawaii, no information was provided on my lodging so i called in CSR customer service. Instead of helping me out, they just cancelled on me and didnt even refund my points (which was over 700 dollars). I called in 5 different times to talk to 5 diff supervisors and no help.
Amex plat concierge will go above and beyond to make it right.
Redeeming pts with CSR is so much easier but

Depends on your firm’s policies on which card you can use for travel, and how much you’ll actually travel.
Personally I feel the gold is better as a daily driver because of the 3x point categories, but as noted above, it's pretty easy to get the value out of the AF, so I actually carry both.
We get 100 to Best Buy with platinum? Do you have to opt in or just buy it on card? Is it split 50/50 bi annually like the Saks?
Opt in is necessary- spend $50 get $50 back up to twice. But u can do them both at the same time just make sure its $100 or more
Got both, it CSR is better on point value long run, but Amex is better for the initial bonus.
Then it’s just a matter of preference.
Uber credit or general travel credit?
The 1 year Uber and lyft passes are essentially the same
Also get the Schwab version and you can transfer MR pts at 1.25 cents per point to your Schwab brokerage/checking/IRA, and if IRA it doesn't count as a "contribution" so you can go over and above the annual maximum.
