McKinsey & Company Is there an advantage to exiting MBB, spending a stint in industry, re-entering MBB etc? Noticed a few senior partners at McKinsey & Company who've done it, and not sure why, unless it leads to faster promos.

I’m an L6 SDM at Amazon but a Meta recruiter sent me an M2 sdm job description. I have all the XP I need from previous job experience but does Meta keep your same level as Amazon? Meaning if I am an L6 at Amazon am I automatically interviewing at M1 or can I jump to an M2?Amazon Facebook (Meta)

Bain & Company I received an offer to join Bain & Company for SF office but due to family reasons, I will have to stay in the South Bay. Given Bain’s local staffing model, it will be challenging for me to commute to SF and back. Is it possible to be transferred to the palo alto office/is that office fully functioning or does it mainly serve as a hub for partners and research?
Why Bain over the other 2?
McKinsey & Company Does level and/or office matter for referrals at McKinsey & Company? A friend is willing to refer at the Associate level in my target office though I did not get any traction w/ the referral last year. I'm a Veteran so I also recognize there may be a resume translation issue despite the prior version getting me interviews with BCG and Bain. I have updated the resume since - though still wondering if there's anything else I can do to strengthen my case. Thank you in advance for any advice.

You are trying to see a career plan where it’s highly likely that none existed 😅 They got tired of consulting and went to industry. Then got bored of industry and boomeranged.
Interviews are required, unless the boomerang is immediate. Of course, there’ll be an existing network which makes getting that interview pretty easy.
Correct SA & P1, no questions asked you come back with no interviews or anything else. It's a risk free way to try something new with McK still there as a safety net
