I wouldn't be surprised. Almost all of my hygienist friends quit either during or after Covid. Everyone said it was one of the most dangerous jobs to have and I feel like that rumor has just kind of stuck around. No one wants to do the job anymore
I have found that hygienists have found that working as a temp is much more lucrative and gives them freedom from having to be tied down to a schedule. Personally, I would prefer one who is part of my staff so I can train them to work in my practice, but the world is changing, and just like nurses who work "travel jobs", hygienists have decided the bigger pay and no commitment is a better way to work.
