This is why I work remotely - everyday from 9-5 is a costume party!
A No-costumes-allowed Halloween party seems like an appreciation party with only 1 pizza.. No point in doing it if you’re so restricted it’s not fun for anyone.
Yeah, maybe some ground rules for costumes but half the fun of Halloween is having some joke costumes

Umm YES!! I still think about it every Halloween and get a chuckle… someone dressed as a hooker (in a corporate office setting) and proceeded to pass out her (moonlighting) business cards, where she worked as a “dancer”. Someone did tell her it was inappropriate but it was still funny.
We used to have some majorly FUN themes to our office Halloween celebrations. What our C-suite would say about "offensive" costumes included the phrase, "...if they can't take a joke".
Nothing lasts forever though.
It all ended pre-covid when a newly elevated director insisted that their supposed abject fear of costumes AND clowns were the reason it all must stop.
The odd part is that the phobia didn't present until they were management.
Some people just enjoy being fun suckers.
Halloween is for children… it doesn’t belong in the workplace. Grow up.
