It’s ick to see these 9/11 memorial posts on LinkedIn: with a before/after photo of Lower Manhattan perhaps, a paragraph on the moments of that day and then some cringe segue into some corporate sales pitch. I have seen, for example, posts such as (and I paraphrase, but not by much);

“Something something 9/11… and that’s what inspired me to be a financial crimes consultant”

“I remember watching 9/11 on TV and I then knew my calling was in L&D”

A colleague told me today that Google separates Product Manager and Product Owner as two separate roles. I believe that one PM role is preferred in the industry and most modern software companies, especially FAANG companies, only have PMs. Just curious what others have experienced and if I'm correct in my assumption.

Hi Everyone, Started my career in government 5 years ago working in an operational role, then focussed on HR for 3 years working my way up to a middle manager role in HR as a business partner and completed my Level 7 CIPD. For the people who went back to school to pursue a totally different career, what did you do for work? I don’t think I’d be able to do both my current job and school. I did retail in college and that probably isn’t so smart right now. Neither is working at a restaurant. I don’t think I can go back and live with my parents. I feel like I’m stuck.

I’m a third year interested in retooling from lit to general corp, but they prefer someone with 3+ years of corporate experience. They’re also looking for an M&A with 1+ years, so it may be easier to aim for that, but I’ve heard horror stories re WLB for M&A. What house plants are NOT toxic to cats? I swear every time I go to buy a new plant and look it up it says “toxic to pets”. Is it naive to hope that there could be a job out there that I actually LIKE doing as opposed to just forcing myself to do it for the paycheck? I work for a great company with (mostly) great people but still find myself wishing I could be doing anything else throughout the workday.
