without knowing the company, industry, place of re-location, or exit opportunities it’s literally impossible for anyone to provide a genuine response to this.
Is the city Des Moines? If not, take the money, you can buy plenty of friends. If it IS Des Moines, ask for 5X because that place is a gerbil cage in the winter.
Des Moines isn’t even the best city in Iowa and that’s saying something. :)
28 M - took a job paying double in NJ - still fairly close to NYC but far away from friends and family. Lost my gf in home city due to distance and have had a hard time making new acquaintances.
Dating apps, gym and work have helped to meet people but I still come home to an empty house every night. Question if I made the right decision pretty often but part of life is stepping way outside your comfort zone. I’d be remiss if I didn’t take this opp but can’t say there aren’t some realllllly personal downsides to putting career ahead of happiness.

Where would you be moving from? To?
Figure out your decision rubric and plan around that.
Mine has always been: compensation package, location, growth potential, team, WL balance (not necessarily in any order)
If you can check off most of those, might be worth sucking it up, taking the plunge a d doing something you would t ordinarily do. Character builder. You can always pivot to new job/new location and/or crush the role and go remote or fly in periodically.
If you're vehemently against the location, ask if they'd consider remote+one week a month on site or whatever you're comfortable with. Previously, I commuted each week for a few months then backed off to one week a month.
Depends on your goals. If you have a goal of building retirement or paying off student loans - something monetary - then it might be, especially if the new location has a lower cost of living.
If the role is not interesting or challenging and income isn't a necessity, consider whether the move is worth the effort.

I live in my dream location, but there are other awesome spots in the US I would consider for double my salary. However, there are way more states and cities I would never consider, even for triple my salary. There is a lot to be said for loving where you live
I moved my whole life from the South to the DMV for a job offer that was double what I was making, and I don’t regret it for a second. You should take it

I personally would not do it. Also red flag they want you in the office so often you can’t travel on occasion. Life isn’t all about money.
I would go through the interview process (assuming you have the time). You don’t have to make a decision until you get an offer.
Get the offer and Negotiate with your current employer.
Locating somewhere new alone is a great opportunity and experience. But if the city doesn't match your personality I personally wouldn't

If the role is something you’re interested in and has career growth opportunities, I would take it. You’ll meet people and perhaps even enjoy the new city. You can try it for a year or two and figure out the next step down the road. Also what city is it?
First inform us on the relocation spot
Yes, make as much $$$ then if the place does not grow on me, get the F out RICH.
I have done it two times and about to go on a third.
Friends can be made, specially if you are making money and can sign up for country clubs, or drinking clubs and things like that
What city?
Dying to know where!!!
