I’ve been in my current role for two years and I feel like I’m ready for the senior title, but my manager says I need more cross-functional leadership experience first. The problem is, she won't actually give me a project big enough to prove I can lead those teams. Should I keep trying to carve out a niche here, or is the fastest way to a promotion always just jumping to a new company?

What are the best responses for “a time when you led a team” in a consulting interview, for someone who has not had a managerial position (1 yoe) before? I also don’t want to use an example from undergrad so I’m kind of stuck. What are they really looking for in this question? Initiative? Impact? People skills? And how would you differentiate this vs “a time when you worked in a team”

I found a company I was really excited about working at. I applied for the job and went through 5 rounds of interviews. At the end they said I was OVER qualified and they want me for a different position higher up in the company. I was super excited they then had me go through 5 more rounds, 3/5 people were the same. The interviews mostly went "didn't you get the job, I highly recommend you? I'll just put you down as a 10". After those were done they told me I was UNDER qualified. Can't win!

I’m considering a less sales-oriented role that doesn’t pay commission. The new role will have a higher base but lower overall earning potential.

How long should I wait to hear interview result? I have had over five rounds at a firm including rounds with senior management. The interviews went well. After following with hr, they say they are waiting for feedback on other candidates. Fair enough, but it has been almost a month and hr is not giving me final word on whether they want to hire or not. Any advice on what's happening here?

A colleague told me today that Google separates Product Manager and Product Owner as two separate roles.
