You’ll do great - feel free to DM if you want a resume review, happy to take a peep.

While you’re looking skill up and add some certs etc to your resume if you have the time! Those always stand out and can add to your story. “I wasn’t getting the interviews I wanted so I took ?? Cert since I heard it’s a relevant skill in the industry” always sounds good in an interview

likehelpful

I did Salesforce certs, depends on your background though.

It’s extremely hard to get hired as a BA at McK out of undergrad, so don’t sweat it.

Doesn’t help that basically every firm overhired last year and now with the business downturn we’re all seeing it’s likely even more difficult due to slowed down hiring across the board.

Keep your head up and don’t give up!

likehelpful

I was 42 when I did it. Just know what you’re getting into; and more importantly make sure your family, friends, and loved ones know.

Was worth it for me, but obviously a personal call.

Ya only need 1 offer champ. Keep at it.

like

appreciate it!!!

Keep at it OP!

like

thank you 😭

You are one step closer!!! They have recognized you as a strong candidate to be interviewed !!!

So you landed an interview at McK but not lower tier firms?

is sales force consulting currently hiring?

Don’t worry! It took me many tries to get into my dream firm. Got rejected by EY, PwC, McK, Accenture during new grad and ending up joining a boutique firm. Then got hired by EY as an experienced hire!

likeupliftinghelpful

Can’t say because they’re very small, but I went in knowing it was going to be a stepping stone

helpful

Took me a year to land as an experienced hire and 4 more years to get into strategy.
Lots of people have lots to overcome, whether in their background, or timing of the job market.
Keep at it for sure, and, continue improving yourself. Resume revisions, elevator pitch, your succinct articulation of the job that you can pivot from, drill into, and return to as an anchor if you get lost. Case interviews if you’re looking for a strat job. I even found a voice coach video talking about changing inflection and pitch during interviews to make you sound more engaging. All the reps make it easier.

You’ll get hired!

DM, will share

If I still had access to my undergrad email I’d have multiple rejection emails from each B4, Accenture, etc. Ended up at a smaller firm and ultimately at Deloitte. Even though I was discouraged in college, things worked out for the better. Keep your head up because things will work out in ways you would never predict!

likehelpful

thank you!

Keep trying. It will happen.

Job market is tight right now, don't be discouraged! Usually tax department in EY is always hiring :) at least to get your foot in the door.

LOOOOOL

No advice, just know that it is indeed a very tough process, so hang in there.

I just finished this a couple months ago, it was brutal but good things will happen

thank you :)

You’ll do great, kid. Don’t worry

thank you :)

If you’re not already doing it, take a look at your resume and see if you can tailor it more towards each job posting. Post on the Job Referrals bowl to get referred before you apply for the jobs you want.

Having said that, getting your foot in the door directly out of college is tough but you’ll make it! It took me three/four months of constant applying to land a job after college. You’ll get there!

Thank you so much!

I was in a vaguely similar position last year- I got rejected after a final round at BCG and first round at Bain and wasn’t invited to interview at any other consulting firms I applied to. Was feeling super low about everything. Shortly after, I got a McKinsey interview and just prepped for both the PEI and cases like crazy because I was so determined to make it work since I knew I had no other options. All I can suggest is that if you get an opportunity, use the negative emotions you have now to drive you on to do the absolute best you can and get an offer from elsewhere. If it doesn’t work out I have friends who didn’t get jobs until around graduation who are still doing absolutely fine now. Plus, there’s always the option to come in with experience in a year or two and reinterview so if you’re really set on working at a larger firm that’s still an option. I really really know how emotionally tough and draining it is and all I can say is stay strong and I can promise you that in 5 years time you’ll look back and feel confident that everything worked out for the best anyway :) As stressful as it is right now once you get an offer for after graduation you’ll feel great
