Ive noticed that the most relaxed reps I know are the ones who spend Friday afternoon clearing the deck so they don't have a looming to do list haunt them on Monday morning. What’s that one task you HAVE to finish before you can actually enjoy a drink by the pool and your weekend?

I do this. And I always take the last 20 minutes of the day to prep for the next day. Get calendar set, make sure I have all presentations ready and any other items I need. That way when I walk in the office, I just have to pick up my stack and go

Its a clean way to work. I love writing my to do list and what ive completed and what needs to get done to following day on one note

Since schedules tend to change daily, I spend at least 30 minutes at the end of each day adjusting the customer visits for the rest of the week or at least for the next day. It’s almost humorous that my company requests we pre-schedule two weeks in advance and send our schedules every Friday, even though they have access to our CRM. They micromanage us through it and use it as leverage to suggest we aren’t dedicating enough time, despite knowing that hours worked early mornings, late evenings, and weekends often go unrecorded. Sorry for the vent — just had to get that off my chest! 😂

I cant imagine the situation youre in, I would loath being watched like that. Also 2 weeks in advance is nuts.. maybe 3 or 5 days

For me it is clearing follow ups. I cannot properly enjoy a weekend if I know I am coming back to a pile of unanswered emails on Monday.

like

I do that as well.. I dont like messages going unanswered with customers or staff

For me, it's closing every loose end that can be closed. Future me always appreciates it on Monday morning.

Because we all know Monday can be a storm in its own to navigate and having unfinished taskers just makes it more dreadful.

Partners - Do you ever take vacations?

I have been at my current firm for about 1.5 years, and in that entire time the partner in my group hasn't been out of the office a single time. Is that normal? I can't tell if it's standard for big law partners to not take time off, if the dynamics for my group may be different (only 1 partner in the entire group), or it the partner I work with is just a masochist.

My company covers in depth results each week, including meetings set/attended, wins, revenue, retention etc. I feel as if evaluating in such depth is detrimental to the psyche, as you never get to “ride the high.” In addition, some weeks are simply slower than others, and it’s not always representative of what the results at the end of the period or quarter will be. Is this not a big deal, and I’m I placing too much importance on it? Or is it beneficial to review results less frequently?
