First piece of advice - never use “Tryna” again. I am trying to not wince at that new word.

^ ouch...please prove this partner wrong, OP. I just hope you’re young enough to jump from tax to s&o/management consulting. You’d need to go to a top 10 mba program or get into a diff group (not tax or audit) and network your way in. Both not easy things but if you really want it, you can do it!

EY2 - it is not a questions of age, I prefer sniglets to bad contractions or poor grammar brought about by (tryna) make things fit in 280 characters or texts. But tryna, like gonna, doesn’t make you sound young. it just makes you sound uneducated. In this profession, fine to be young, hip and cool, but you need to at least sound and appear educated.

OP - LOL! continuing to prove my point about you appearing uneducated. You are not cut out for tax. You are likely being forced out

Why ghost someone? Here’s a thought: why not have the decency to tell someone you’re not interested? 🤔💡 We feel bad and complain when someone we like ghosts us, yet we do the same thing to others.

As with many of us, I’ve been searching for a new job. I recently applied to very small firm (in terms of staff), and I’m concerned that with so much work to do and so few people to review applicants, I might get lost in the mix. I may try and connect with one of their staff on LinkedIn, but otherwise, does anyone have advice on how I might get myself noticed in this situation?

The question is, is graduation from law school, not minimum competency? With this line of reasoning we are saying that law schools do not produce competent future lawyers, so should we instead switch to a system of taking the bar without the three years of a measure that frankly bar associations have deemed not an adequate measure? Dash this comment aside if it is fallible, but there is something here that has been overlooked. Competence is not regurgitation and memorization.
