My partner worked there for a couple of years—assuming you have a pretty solid background in public health / international development?
From what I recall them telling me, the most assured way to get hired there is to have somebody on the inside who can personally vouch for you. That appeared to have a significant impact on the success of several applicants.
I’ll warn you, though. It seemed like a lot of people were frustrated working there. One of the biggest complaints I heard from my partner and their colleagues was that you can’t really get promoted; you have to wait for there to be an opening at a higher level and apply for it alongside however many external applicants there happens to be. That process seemed to burn a lot of people. Also, pretty uncompetitive pay bands.
Gotcha, that makes sense. Definitely curious where PH research folks are finding their niche in the consulting world. Good to know about JSI as still good short term step forward, thank you!
