Partners make good money ($0.5M and upwards). Industry exits can also make equal if not more money especially with stock grants and such. I’ve seen some industry exits make more money than consulting even though they are at industry middle management levels. Timing, luck, skill sets and company make all the difference.
People stay in consulting because they enjoy the diversity of work and the hustle. Industry is better for those who want to specialize and are willing to tie their destiny to a company.

They usually leave for money and WLB. If you stay in consulting your y-o-y raises will be higher, if you jump to industry you get another good bump. So once you reach a level you are happy with, jump and live a good life.
Eg starting salary is 100k after 5-6 years you make manager are at 200k, leave to industry for 250k-300k with 40h/week. Less likely you have such raises if you start in the industry.
It depends. I usually see Consultant/Associate and Manager exits get a pretty nice bump in TC (especially if you include stock, equity etc.). For more senior levels, you will “break even” in TC (or maybe a hair more) but much of that will come from stock so you end up hurting from a cash flow perspective (if that is of concern)
