Congrats. I know that feeling well. Hope you left yourself some down time to relax / celebrate before you start!
Such a good feeling. Cherishing it while it lasts. I’ll have more downtime than what I know what to do with 😂
Congratulations! Wishing you many continued blessings.
Make sure that when you find yourself in a position to hire that you give other Big 4 people an opportunity. It’s so odd to me that law firms don’t poach more JDs from Big 4 for corporate, tax, and ECEB associate roles. I don’t think they have a good concept of what Big 4 does.

AGC1, nah, I don’t think that’s it. I think the real reason is that law firms are in the talent management business and are just singularly bad at identifying talent. Last year - in the insane associate lateral market - was the first time I got people to listen to & buy in to a hiring strategy designed to pick-up elite talent but do it by targeting inefficiencies in other law firms. & find a different way to compete in the labor market than signing bonuses and platitudes of mental health focus. And, guess what. Every single hire we made following that strategy has been a grand slam for the firm and for that person. What did it take to try something different? Oh, you know. Just total fucking desperation.
Congrats! I’ve had a non-traditional path to my role as well, having never spent time in a firm but able to land what I consider a dream in-house job. I’d been looking for roles like this for 3-4 years and been consistently denied because I’d never worked in a firm. It was deflating as hell. Ultimately got a 40% raise to come to my current company, doing more critical work than the firms would’ve had me doing, and I’ve actually had to correct a couple of these firms’ work product since we’ve retained them as outside counsel.
As you said, all it takes is one “yes.” Best of luck!
Depending on your practice area, I may circle back to this
As somebody who had this exact same path, congratulations and well done. It's not an easy thing to pull off.
Thanks! Congratulations to you as well. Certainly wasn’t an easy row to hoe.
Congrats!!!! What’s your salary going to be and the required hours?

This was funny. Happy for you, but idk why people treat law firms like they should be on a pedestal.
I’m not in “awe” of the fact it’s a law firm. I’m happy to finally practice and use my skill sets to a greater degree at a firm compared to what I was at Big4. I’m well aware of what Big4 day to day and payscales are like. They don’t come close to touching law firms until partner level, which if it happens at all, is 12-15 years.
Congrats! What year did you bring you in as?
Same class year! Didn’t ask that I take a cut
