Hi guys, Now VMware is offering me a 35% percent hike of what I am earning at DellEmc. I just completed one year at DellEmc. Total 2.7YOE But I don't like to go out of Dell, due to some personal commitments I am planning to switch.
Is it a good time to switch?
Can I talk with my manager ?
Are they able to hike the salary of what VMware is offering? Please suggest me.

Either way, it’s a good problem to have. Congrats!
Understand the frustration but sounds like champagne 🍾 problems! Wishing you the best of luck in negotiations.
Revised offer of $143k with $10k sign on bonus and a small bump in RSUs.
Looking over benefits I’d save about $9k a year on family medical compared to current job so that’s meaningful.
Just sitting on it for a bit as I ponder. Suspect I’ll call to confirm when review cycles are (they said after 1 year but start date is mid Jan) so concerned Dec is normal review for Jan pay update but I wouldn’t be eligible as I hadn’t done a year). Trying to think of anything else besides that and one more push with a ‘I’ll sign at $145k’ wild card.
What’s the RSU situation and target bonus?
How many YOE?
I’d focus less on the offer today, and more on the experience you’ll get + the available career progression
Good luck 👍 Is this for product marketing roles?
I’m in a similar position (though at a lower pay scale). 2 offers but the position I like better is offering less. I’m leaning towards going for the one I’m more passionate about - curious how you end up making your decision
If salary is not negotiable then ask whether RSUs, annual bonus, or sign-on bonus are negotiable
Best and final
145 base
10 sign on
RSU 30 over 5 years (first offer was 25.9)
10% annual bonus
Looking into this more, the medical is really good. I’d bring home about 9k more than my current job just on that.
Pushed start date out a week so my current medical finishes Feb 1 and new medical starts then
Have made sure my 1st year salary review will be in Dec next year (not after I’ve done 12months)
TBD on if I can BYOD mac as they’re offering a PC. But do get a $500 stipend for WFH setup too
A1 no
D1 not in consulting. It’s a great job where I’ll be managing the product marketing for their flagship product so excellent CV point. And I liked the people and teams too. Little bummed out as starting off my expectations were a little higher and they didn’t move much. Combine this with another company I’m interviewing with saying they’ll do 180 makes me want to fight for my worth (the other role is permanently remote which I want to avoid)
