Yeah well your clients would like a firm who doesn't fuckup the Oscars.

D1 - if you'd like me to prove to you that I'm not HR or recruiting, send your cell number to my burner, and I will kindly pick up the phone and tell you to go fuck yourself. Would recruiting or HR write that on Fishbowl? Don't think so. 🤷‍♂️

OP - I am leaving PwC after 6 years of service, and the decision was not an easy one for me, even with a >40% salary increase and huge signing bonus where I'm headed. When I looked past the money, and reflected on my time at the firm, it was an overwhelmingly positive experience.

As D2 mentions, there are challenges with our technology (it is disjointed to say the least, and the opinion of most people in technology practices is that this switch to Google was a boondoggle), and on-site training opportunities could be more plentiful (but I think we do a great job of on-boarding our campus hires through our campus new hire training - I've been through it as a new hire and I've been a trainer at many of those events as I worked my way up within the firm).

Leadership is incredibly accessible and, in my experience, was generally interested in getting to know and providing opportunities for career growth and development to even the lowest-level staff. The people and the culture are fantastic. I'm sure some practices are better than others in terms of opportunities and work-life balance, but that's probably something that is true of every firm.

I left the firm with very mixed emotions, and I'm still not sure I made the right decision, but given some personal goals that I have with my fiancée, this substantial pay increase will be key in accomplishing those goals (wedding, house, kids).

This may sound cliche or like I drank a little too much Kool-Aid, but when I was at PwC, I felt like I was part of one big family. Maybe it was just the practice I was in but, honestly, I have a lot of friends at the firm that aren't all in the practice I was in, and they've been there for years and are very happy.

Is every minute of every day perfect? No. I had some nightmarish projects and clients. I worked 16-18 hour days at times, but that was the exception, not the rule. For every nightmarish project or client I had, I had 2-3 projects or clients that were fantastic - so fantastic it made me forget about the bad ones. For every 16-18 hour day I put in, there were plenty more weeks where I only put in 40 hours. I would say on average, I worked about 40-50 hours on client related things and some weeks of the year, I spent an additional 10 on firm reinvest activities.

I've probably given enough information that those that know me well will be able to identify me, but honestly, I don't care - at least those that can identify me will be able to conform to you I'm not HR just feeding you some BS lines. I owe many thanks to PwC, for the investment they made in me and the opportunities they have given me through the years. It is a great firm, and if you choose to make the jump, I'm sure you'll find yourself welcome and happy there.

My advice would be to share the practice you are looking at so that folks in that practice may be able to give you some more direct and specific insight.

The Ds are always douchebags and everyone knows it . P3 I'm glad you were happy there, what you wrote (positives) are the same why I stay at accenture. As a new SM I'm at 185k - if I get an offer of 250 or more I would leave in next year or so, otherwise probably never.

like

Btw before any Deloitter Craps on me - I've gotten multiple offers from d in the past (3rd one knocking on my door right now). But even with slightly better pay - I don't want to work wit a bunch of dicks. And I have told the leadership that the main reason. And even they have told me, yes that's why we're trying to recruit externally for these leadership posts to change our culture - so even your own peeps know most of the company culture is polluted by douchebags.

like

D1 - you mean that one client specifically? Also, did you hear that we retained that client? I guess 84 years of excellent client service outweighs one flub.

like

Hasn't everyone been pursued by Deloitte? They hire everyone and believe in quantity over quality. Said no in college and said no this year too. 💪🏽

like

I have really loved working at Deloitte for the same reasons that A1 and PWC3 like their companies. Depends on the area you are in- 95% of people in my area are just nice people who love points and work really hard at their jobs.

like

Been at D for over 8 years and rarely come across someone I don't like. Maybe I'm a huge douche and I just don't know it!!

like

OHHH DAMN D1 got herbed by P3 LOL 👏👏👏

like

P3 Nice try PwC recruiting. You're not fooling anyone. Your raises and bonuses always suck. Your Strategy& post merger integration went horribly. You screwed up the client work on the thing you like bragging about most. Your campus recruiting forces people to do shabooya roll calls. Just keep acquiring companies to increase your revenue in the meantime so you can stay relevant.

like

Depends on the practice.

like

I was at Pdubs for 11 months. Compared to Deloitte I liked their culture better. You felt more connected with senior leadership and it wasn’t as “Everyman for himself” or some senior manager trying to take work from another. Deloitte far exceeds in technology, training, and career opportunities. But I felt more connected at pdubs. More face-time with leadership and stronger connection with my coworkers. However, I’m speaking from the Federal Practice and your experience at any firm will always depend on your project and the team you work with.

like

Yup. I too have been pursued by Deloitte and said no.

like

Why because I like to stand up to mistreatment and overcompetitiveness and backstabbing? Just because I stand my ground doesn't mean I'm a douchebag. Just not the right culture for me. But im done now - this is op's post and we're talking about D when he wanted to hear about P. Sorry to digress OP.

lol i love how bad D must be to have people be proud they turned them down lol.

Ive been at Deloitte for 3 years now and have loved it for the most part. Only problem is that my background is finance and I've yet to be staffed on a finance project.

Interviewed with PwC and will likely make the move when an official offer comes through bc it's doing the work I want to do. A lot of the experience is what you make of it in my opinion. Every company has shitty people and work- your attitude is what makes or breaks it in most situations.

like

I would say PwC is def less intense. It’s not up-or-out at all. I know several people who negotiated with partners that they’d like to stay at a certain level (usually SA/M) for moms with kids and get to stay on local projects.

How many tries did it take?
