Just landed my first job as a junior account manager, and I’m excited but also a bit overwhelmed. I’ll be supporting a team that manages around 15 accounts, and I really want to make a strong impression early on. Any advice on how to stand out in a positive way while learning the ropes? Also, how do you efficiently manage your workload without getting buried in tasks? I’d love to hear what helped you succeed when you were just starting out—whether it’s time management tips, communication strategies, or lessons you learned the hard way.

Congratulations! Try to be positive even when you are stressed out. ( I know that’s hard but people notice and it matters) write things down to avoid having to ask the same questions multiple times. Be mindful of people’s time, but don’t be afraid to ask for time if you need it either, everyone’s busy so just because they haven’t thought to offer time doesn’t mean they won’t help if asked. Good Luck🍀

Writing everything down is what helps me stay on track. It may be old school, but a good to do list is how I stay on top of tasks. When I just started out, I asked others for “coffee chats” whether in person or virtual to pick people’s brains, learn more about our clients, etc. I always preferred it as “if you have a quick half hour but I understand if you’re too busy” as I know how crazy workloads are.

Monday Morning rumination: unsolicited advise is criticism.

Much to reflect on with this topic. Last week I was told in a 1:1 with a new contact that I was “too direct”. After some time chewing on the conversation I was struggling to place the emotions I was feeling. Turns out I was feeling guilty and shame for being me, for taking up space. Lesson of the week: unsolicited advice is a criticism of you, a micro aggression of who you are, and being “too much”. What would you do??

Random, but valid/persistent thought.

After 2 years of a pandemic and working independently for many years, I am not feeling interviews AT ALL. There are points in the interview where I want to just say "Look! Either hire me or don't".

How can I get over this feeling? I'm over the whole "stand in the line of fire to prove how good I am" bs. Any recommendations for getting over this or possible industries to pivot into to avoid bs interview processes and ghosting?

Hi everyone,

I'm going for a role for Account Director and have gone through the interviews with the head of accounts, BD as well as the ECD's. I received the following email at the end of the day:

"You are one of two candidates in the final round.

One thing we haven’t spoken about are your salary expectations. Could you have a think and let me know early next week as well as your employment status (residency permit)."

What would be the best way to answer this response? Appreciate the help
